The Curious Eye
PROBLEM: While incredibly common, colorblindness (AKA color vision deficiency or CVD) often goes undiagnosed into adulthood. Why? Because the current ways to diagnose it are not child-friendly, and not readily available to parents outside of a doctor’s office.
SOLUTION: Create the first ever storybook designed to help screen for colorblindness in children. “The Curious Eye” takes children on an interactive journey, where they follow an eyeball named “Curious”, who asks them to point out what creatures they see, or may not be able to see, along the way. The book includes an answer key, which explains that if children cannot see certain creatures, they may have CVD. It then includes resources to help get a clinical diagnosis with an ophthalmologist at thecuriouseye.org.
